Metal Lathe 101 will provide you with the opportunity to gain some hands-on experience operating our Grizzly 4000 hobby lathe.

The class project is to make a scribe for marking metal. We will review the materials you watched in the preparatory videos including safety, tooling, facing, turning & drilling. You will also make internal and external threads using taps and dies. Eye protection is available or bring your own. Please wear appropriate clothing including closed toed shoes.

This class is open to members 14+ years of age. Minors attending this class must be accompanied by an adult parent/guardian for the duration of the course. 

In order to attend this event YOU MUST REGISTER, we are unable to accomodate walk-ins at this time. 

Due to the pandemic, we are a bit behind in training members on the safe use of tools and equipment.  For the time being this course is only open to paying members of Decatur Makers, and you must be logged into your CRM account in order to register for this event. 

We apologize for the inconvenience and we plan on making this course available to the general public, as soon as we are caught up training members.
