Summary

This is a two part class in which you'll learn how passive stereo speakers work and build your own pair.

Description

This is a two part class in which you'll learn how passive stereo speakers work and build your own pair. We'll cut all the parts to size for you in advance and your fee covers all hardware for a complete pair of home stereo speakers.

In part 1, on July 29th 7-9pm you'll learn WHY these speakers are exactly the size they are, how to use some speaker design software, and you'll assemble the enclosures for the speakers.

In part 2 on the 2nd day, July 30th 7-9pm, the glue will be dry and you'll learn about crossovers: which frequencies are handled by the "woofer" and which by the "tweeter", and then you'll wire it all up and test them by listening to some Pink Floyd (required). Then you can listen to whatever you want!

This class is open to makers 14+. Minors must be accompanied by an adult parent or guardian for the duration of the class.

*please note that this event page is only setup for the first day on the 29th of July, but by registering you will be signing up for both days. Please make a note on your calendar for both days.
