Description

“Introduction to PCB Design and Manufacture”

Happy New Year to all! And what better way to start off the new year than to learn a new skill!

Ever thought about designing your own printed circuit boards (PCB’s)? Want to learn what it takes to design a board, how to get started? Then come to this month’s ARPUG meetup next Monday for an introduction to printed circuit board design and manufacture. No prior knowledge or experience is necessary.

We’ll start off with an overview of the PCB – what it is made of, the various parts and features that are important to the design. We’ll also talk briefly about the history of PCB design before we dive into the design process.

We will be using KiCad, a very popular, powerful and FREE software package to design a simple board. We’ll walk through the basic steps from first thoughts to ordering boards online. If you like you can download KiCad onto your own laptop and follow along.

The meeting will be next Monday, January 9th, 7pm at the space.

Come on by and see what it’s all about and get started adding another tool to your kit of maker skills!
